A golf, a historical heritage

In 1965, the Golf and Country Club of Seraincourt was built on the "Prieuré du Gaillonnet " domain in the district of Seraincourt. It was designed by the famous architect Frédérick Hawtree (1916-2000).

Before becoming a golf club, Le Prieuré de Gaillonnet hosted famous people:

  • General Louis Friant (1758-1829), who took part in all the great Napoleonic battles: The Pyramids, Austerlitz, Iena ... Seriously wounded in Waterloo, the general ends his life at the Prieuré. He is buried in the cemetery of the district. His name appears on the Arc de Triomphe (www.napoleon.org).
  • Maurice Donnay, from 1895 to 1927, member of the French Academy, playwright whose plays "The Lovers", "Education of Prince" are a great success.
